From the 01 June 2015- overseas Kyoto units will no longer be eligible for use in the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme. Any overseas units such as ERUs, CERs, and RMUs still held in private NZEUR registry accounts after this date are likely to be cancelled by Government within the next 6 months.
Effectively this means that the NZ ETS is a domestic scheme with only NZUs and NZ AAUs eligible for surrender going forward.
